SIFE Headquarters hosted the Unleash Your Potential Fall Training Conference for our area in Cincinnati, OH at Cincinnati State Technical & Community College. This was a nine-hour training session split up in two groups: SIFE 101: The Basics, and Building Your SIFE Program: The Formula for Success. The first was designed for students just entering SIFE and explained what SIFE was all about, SIFE Criteria, Project Activities, Competitions, Resume Writing, Marketing Yourself, and Leadership topics. Simultaneously, the second group was for veteran SIFE students designed to take a SIFE team to the next level with sessions including an Overview of the Team Model, Gaining Institutional Support, Recruiting Students, Business Advisory Board (BAB) Members, Alumni Relations, Resume Writing, Marketing Yourself, Navigating the SIFE Website, and Media & Marketing.
Berea College was very well represented at the Training Conference with an attendance of 19 students and two Berea College Faculty: the SIFE Advisor, and Economic and Business Department Guest Scholar. These students had the opportunity to meet, converse, and share a lunch with representatives from six well-known companies: Walgreens (the sponsoring company for the training), CVS/Pharmacy, KPMG Public Accounting Firm, Rent-A-Center, and Frito-Lay.
We look forward to seeing how all of the great information learned will be put to good use this year in SIFE!
