SIFE 2nd General Meeting

September 30, 2009

The focus of the second general meeting of the year was planned for students to pitch their own projects ideas to the audience and judges in the Activities Room of the Alumni Building.  There were approximately forty students present in addition to the two judges:  Mr. Nicholas Cabrini from HSBC Argentina and Dr. Mark Roselli from Economics and Business Department at Berea College.  Students were coming up one after another, talking about each of their community project ideas for about 3 minutes, followed by 2 minutes of Q&A/suggestions.  In total, ten students presented twelve great project ideas!

At the conclusion of the meeting, as the two guest judges discussed the best 2 project ideas, our VP of Technology- Javlon Turdiev introduced the Berea SIFE website to the audience – a web page that the team (Javlon, Tengis, and Linh) had worked hard to put together.

As it was time for the judges to announce the winners of the 2 best project ideas, our audience was very excited.  All of the project ideas were very well-presented, making for a difficult time for the judges in choosing only the best two. In the end, the awards went to Hong Zheng-Durandal and Amber Stanton. Each received special gifts from our generous sponsor, Main Street Café.

We are awaiting the final decisions on which projects SIFE will be able to pursue.  We look forward to working on these great projects!
