Workshop for the GRE General Test

This workshop series is designed to help you review strategies for successful test taking in each of the three areas of the GRE General Test: analytical, verbal, and quantitative. if you are taking the test this term, the review can be a brush-up. if you will be taking the test later this year or next year, the workshops can help you define areas in which you need particular practice

Sponsored by the Center for Learning, Teaching, Communication, and Research and led by Berea faculty members, each session will include a discussion of strategies, work with practice materials, and review and provide feedback on your work. You may sign up for one, two, three, or all four session. Please bring your laptop to sessions.

For more information on the sessions, please call The Learning Center, ext. 3404.

Funding for the GRE Test Fees

Beginning July 1, 2007, Educational Testing Service (ETS) will only provide one half of the fee for one Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) test.

In the past ETS has granted fee waivers to students who are seniors and who meet the criteria for ‘NEED’ (dependent students who have a parental contribution of no more than $1200 and independent students with an EFC of no more than $1600). Starting with the 2007-08 tests, ETS will only provide one half of the fee.

There has been some misunderstanding in the past that Berea College provided funds for the GRE fee waiver which is not the case. ETS has since 1971 and will continue to provide these fee waivers and it appears for the future to be only half the cost.

Please also keep in mind that only those students with senior status are eligible for the waiver. We often receive requests for a waiver from a student who is just short of senior status. A student must be a senior by the standards of the institution. If a student needs even ½ credit to become a senior, that student is not eligible
