The photographic collection of the Buckhorn Children's Center is rich in its
coverage of people, places, and events relating to the school and surrounding
area. Dates for the collection range from c. 1900 to c. 1980 and are drawn from
two unique original photographic series. Series I are those of the Witherspoon
College School and environs. Series II contains the photographs of Buckhorn Children's
Center as it presently exists.

Witherspoon College School, c.1900 - c.1940 |

This series contains a wide variety of photographic images from the early years
at Buckhorn. Of particular note, are views of the early campus and community;
portraits of Buckhorn students and staff; as well as photographs of various sports
events and teams.
The Witherspoon Series consists of 14 loose prints; one album containing 283
mounted prints; as well as 205 lantern-slides, many of which are hand colored.
Photographs included in this series were a gift to the Buckhorn Children's Center
from the Buckhorn Alumni Association, and are on permanent display at the Buckhorn
Lake State Park Lodge.

This series contains images of the Center and the community from approximately
1950 to 1980. The photographs concentrate on such subject areas as students,
classroom and schoolyard activities, and staff. Formats in this original series
include 512 loose prints, 373 35mm slides, 1015 negatives, and 1 album containing
71 mounted prints. Photographs belonging to this series are housed in the administrative
office building, on the campus of the Buckhorn Children's Center.
