Series I Foundations Boxes 1-10

The materials in this series consist of information on donations, grants, and foundations, along with correspondence with funding agencies. The arrangement is in alphabetical order by subject. Most of the information dates from about 1973-1976.

Most of the information on foundations reflects correspondence that executive secretary, Loren Kramer, and other administrators sent to the foundations in order to receive aid. However, often information on particular foundations is included as well. The largest amount of information on any foundation is the Lilly Endowment. This foundation supported SIA for a number of years through a series of grants.

Some of this material may be in a delicate condition due to damage from water.

Series II General Boxes 11-13

Materials in this series include general information such as maps, SIA materials used, the role of SIA, articles and bylaws, membership information, and labor information. A large portion of this material in on membership, mostly paper work filed by schools to ask for or renew membership. However, this also includes information on how to become a member.

Information on Berea College and student labor employed with SIA can be found also. Resumes and employee information are present in small quantities. Any general information associated with SIA is also included. The series is arranged by the subject of the materials.

Series III Administrative Files Boxes 14-17

These materials are made up of information memoranda, minutes from Board of Directors meetings, Annual meetings, Executive Council meetings, and various papers from other committees. Information memoranda include memos describing what was going on within SIA; these memos cover the years 1973-1981. The Board of Directors usually met twice a year and the minutes reflect the years 1969-1980. Executive Council minutes stretch from the years 1970-1979. Files on the Annual Meeting only include the years 1977 and 1978. Committee meeting minutes are also present.

Some of these materials may be damaged from water and may be in a delicate condition.
