    "The Appalachian Studies Bibliography is compiled by Jo. B. Brown, West Virginia University Libraries, Morgantown, W.Va. The bibliography cumulates the "Annual Bibliography" sections of the Journal of Appalachian Studies (begun in 1995). It aims to be comprehensive in scope and include all major scholarship for the years indicated. Entries include: Books and book chapters, Journal articles, Dissertations, Selected, Government documents, Newspaper articles, and Conference papers."     "The Appalachian Studies Association was formed in 1977 by a group of scholars, teachers, and regional activists who believed that shared community has been and will continue to be important to those writing, researching, and teaching about Appalachia. The Appalachian Studies Association's mission is to encourage study, advance scholarship, disseminate information, and enhance communication between Appalachian peoples, their communities, governmental organizations, and educational institutions." The ASA site contains a variety of information, both about the association itself (mission, publications and conferences) and about related topics. The Teaching and Learning section provides access to hundreds of syllabi for courses on Appalachian topics and themes.   • Archives of Appalachia - East Tennessee State University
    "The Archives of Appalachia is part of the Center for Appalachian Studies and Services. The three divisions of the Center are the Regional Resources Institute, the Archives, and the Reece Museum. The Archives includes three units concerned with the collection, preservation, and public use of historical materials:
    • Appalachian Collections, a multimedia collection of materials that documents the political, economic, social, and cultural history of Southern Appalachia.
    • University Archives, which includes official records and publications, photographs, personal papers, and audio and video recordings documenting the history of East Tennessee State University.
    • Special Collections, containing books and other published materials concerning southern Appalachian culture, history, and literature."

    "CVA is currently launched primarily as a portal collecting together and giving access to several thousand web sites concerning Appalachia's people, culture, landscape, and environment. Over time significant original content and data will be added to the site."
  • Kentucky Statistics - Health and Nutrition
    "This section [of the Kentucky Virtual Library] provides health and nutrition statistical information for Kentucky from federal, state and county sources. This includes topics such as health care workers, expenditures, resources, insurance, hospitals and nursing homes, Medicare/Medicaid, information about the aged, the disabled and the poor.   • Kentuckiana Digital Library - Images and Sound
    A part of the Kentucky Virtual Library, this site provides access to over a dozen completed or developing projects, giving access to hundreds of photos as well as page images of various print sources. Although 'Sound' is a part of the title for this section, no audio is included at the present time.
  • Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report
    "The Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR) Series is prepared by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The data in the weekly MMWR are provisional, based on weekly reports to CDC by state health departments. The reporting week concludes at close of business on Friday; compiled data on a national basis are officially released to the public on the succeeding Friday." - from the website
