Berea Term Abroad

Berea students have the priceless opportunity to spend an entire Fall or Spring Term studying in a college or university abroad, earning academic credit while experiencing the life and culture of another part of the world. Berea College provides generous financial support to enable students to select a program appropriate for their academic plan from a rich array of international opportunities.
Selecting a Program
We encourage students to consider one of our bilateral exchanges or a Kentucky Institute for International Studies (KIIS) semester program, both of which are especially cost-effective options, but there are also countless other options available through program providers or by direct enrolling in a university abroad. Selecting a suitable program requires thoughtful and careful planning.

Financial Support
Financial support from Berea College is available for any major in the form of the Global Education Opportunity (GEO) Scholarship, which covers up to 75% of the cost of a semester abroad (maximum of $11,000). The Department of Foreign Languages offers similar financial support for qualified majors. In addition, there are also external scholarships.
