Interested in learning about the faith and practice of Islam? One fifth of the world's population is Muslim, and it is one of the fastest-growing religions in the United States. Learn about Muslim society, Islamic traditions, the Coptic Orthodox tradition, as well as historical and contemporary Middle Eastern culture: crafts, art, architecture, food, and dance. Make Egypt your classroom! Guest lectures and discussions by leading Muslim scholars will complement academic tours of historical mosques, ancient Christian monasteries, and the pyramids at Giza. Sail down the Nile as the sun sets over Cairo.

Prerequisites: Sophomore standing and permission of the instructors. Knowledge of Arabic is helpful, but not required.
