Privilege, Poverty and Paradise: The Remarkable Life and Work of the Japanese Nun-Artist Rengetsu
(Asian Studies Program)

Rengetsu (1791-1875) was a Buddhist nun who became one of the foremost poets, painters, and potters of 19th century Japan. This presentation by University of Kentucky art historian Dr. Andrew Maske will explore her life and work. Co-sponsored by the Art & Art History Department and the Asian Studies Department. Free and open to the public!
