Artist Talk - "Going Against the Grain: Wooden Quilts" by Laura Petrovich-Cheney
(Exhibitions)

Please join us at the Doris Ulmann Galleries on Thursday, February 7 at 4:30pm to hear a talk delivered by visual artist Laura Petrovich-Cheney.

Petrovich-Cheney's exhibition, "Going Against the Grain: Wooden Quilts," will open in the Upper Traylor Gallery on January 14 and will run until February 15.

About the Artist:

Using traditional and contemporary patchwork quilt patterns, Laura Petrovich-Cheney creates complex and vibrant sculptures from debris that was collected after natural disasters such as Hurricane Sandy (2013), Gatlinburg, TN Fires (2015), and a series of nor'easters that pounded the Massachusetts coastline during the winter of 2018. Her work explores issues of loss, identity, place, memory, and renewal.
