Fall 2016 Westervelt Program
Technology and Applied Design
Berea College

The Westervelt program for Fall 2016 will concentrate on three mini courses in Woodworking. Class will begin September 6th. Classes will meet on Tuesday and Thursdays from 6:30-8:30 p.m. The instructor will be Gary Mahoney. To register please call Sandy Wells at 859-985-3033 between the hours of 8:00a.m and 5:00 p.m. beginning August 22nd. There is a $10 non-refundable registration fee for each course. In addition students will be responsible for any materials used. These courses are open to persons with woodworking experience ranging from beginner to expert. All classes are limited to 17 participants. Participants must be at least 18 years old to enroll in the Westervelt program.

I. Basics of Woodturning- September 6 - September 27
This class will cover both spindle and faceplate turning.

II. Furniture Design and Construction - September 29 - October 25th
Item to be made will be selected on the first night of class. The class will cover design, planning, materials, processes and finish as it relates to item selected. (No class on Oct. 11th.)

III. Christmas Treasures - November 8th -December 8th
This class will concentrate on the production of small Christmas related items. (No class on Nov. 10th, 22nd, and 24th)
