George Ella Lyon "Every Time You Speak the Truth, You Are Making Justice in the World" Why Poetry Matters
(Convocations)

Through reading, reflecting, and inviting the audience to write, Kentucky Poet Laureate George Ella Lyon will explore the power of poetry to transform us. Beginning with author Grace Paley's galvanizing statement (quoted in the title of this talk), George Ella will consider how the most personal work can reach deep into other hearts, liberating and strengthening writer and reader alike. Cosponsored with LJAC. Appalachian Lecture.
