Poetry Under the Stars - reading of classic poems plus planetarium show
(Performing Arts)

"If the poets don't sing of science, who will?" asks physicist Alan Cromer.

The night sky inside Weatherford Planetarium at Berea College will come alive at "Poetry Under the Stars." Berea College faculty, writing students and community members will read classic poems from various cultures and time periods, accompanied by images of stars and skies provided by the Planetarium.

The event is sponsored by English and Physics Programs.

The inspiration for an evening of astronomical poetry came from Physics professor emeritus Smith T. Powell, who with English professor Libby Jones and her poetry students organized the first performance in 2006. Jones and Physics professor Tracy Hodge and their students have organized this year's event.

The event is free and open to the community.

Weatherford Planetarium is located in Room 108, Science Building. Doors will open at 6:15 p.m.
