"Do Not Replace. Repair! Regenerating Cartilage in Joints - Integrating Life Sciences with Engineering with Medicine" Dr. Rocky Tuan. Dr. Tuan earned his BA in Chemistry from Berea College in 1972, PhD in Life Sciences (Biochemistry and Cell Biology) at Rockefeller University in New York in 1977. He continued his postdoctoral research training at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Tuan served as a professor in the Department of Biology at the University of Pennsylvania. He was a professor at Thomas Jefferson University, and became Director of the Orthopaedic Research Laboratory, Academic Director of the MD-PhD Program, and Vice Chairman of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr. Tuan became the Chief of Cartilage Biology and Orthopaedics Branch of the National Institute of Arthritis, Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases. In both 2006 and 2007 he was given the Special Recognition Award, NIH Undergraduate Scholars Program.
