Introduction to the Appalachian Mountain Dulcimer with Adrian and Margaret Dotson
(Educational Opportunity)

These sessions are a part of the Appalachian Expressions Series.

This workshop will focus on new dulcimer players. No musical background is required. Come and learn to play. This is a participatory musical event where everyone will play together for the sheer joy of making music.

If you have a dulcimer, please bring it. If you do not, the Dotsons have a few extra that they can bring. Please contact them ahead of time if you would like for them to bring a dulcimer for you to use in this event. E-mail Adrian at

Adrian made his first dulcimer in Bereas Westervelt program in 2004. Since that time he has made over 50 dulcimers. Adrian and Margaret have used the participatory method to introduce the dulcimer to all ages from elementary school children to senior citizens in their 80s.
