Creative Writing Workshop Series
(Educational Opportunity)

Please join us on October 22 when Katerina Stoykova-Klemer will present a workshop titled, "Bigger Than They Appear - A Close Look at the Very Short Poem". Very short free-verse poems are challenging to write effectively, because the author must find a way to convey a complete thought or emotion with as few words as possible. Liek concentrated medicine, a well-written short poem can invoke in the reader an intense emotional response that lasts well beyond the reading of the poem. This workshop will examine why and when very short poems are appropriate and sufficient, along with some of the tools and techniques that poets use to write them effectively.

Katerina Stoykova-Klemer is the author of three poetry books, most recently The Porcupine of Mind (Broadstone Books, 2012). Katrina is the founder of poetry and prose groups in Lexington, KY. She hosts Accents - a radio show for literature, art and culture on WRFL, 88.1 FM, Lexington. In January 2010, Katerina launched Accents Publishing.
