THE ZAPATISTA MOVEMENT AND THE LEGACY OF WOMEN'S ACTIVISM
Since their uprising agaist the Mexican government in Chiapas in 1994, the Zapatistas recuperated lands, implemented territorial indigenous autonomy, and linked their movement to global struggles against neoliberal globalization. This talk considers the decades of work of women in the movement to change relations of power and create more gender equity on multiple levels -- in communities, in Mexico and beyond.
