The Constitution of the Buddhist
Student Association
Berea College Chapter
Article I
Name and Purpose
The Buddhist Student Association’s purpose is to develop and
sustain a community for Buddhist students at Berea College, and to
promote dialogue among Buddhists and non-Buddhists in the Berea community.
Article II
Membership and Fees
Membership in the BSA is open to all who pay individual annual dues
of $10/year. First preference for participation in BSA activities
will be given to those members who attend meetings regularly.
Article III
Representation and Legislative Authority
Officers of the BSA shall consist of a President, Secretary, and
Treasurer. There also shall be one faculty advisor. Any member of
BSA is eligible to be nominated and elected to any of the offices.
Terms of service for each of these offices shall be one academic
year. Vacant positions may be filled as a result of special elections
called by the membership.
Article IV
Meetings
The BSA shall meet at least once a month during each academic year.
Special meetings may be called by the President in consultation with
the advisor.
Article V
Amendments to the Constitution
Ratification and amendment of this constitution shall be effected
by an affirmative vote by two-thirds of the BSA members present at
a meeting.
