Monday, February 2, 7 p.m. – Marilyn Kallet will read from her new collection of poems, Packing Light: New and Selected Poems at the John C. Hodges Library Auditorium at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. Marilyn Kallet is the author of 14 books, including Circe, After Hours, and is translator of Last Love Poems of Paul Eluard. This event also serves as the book launch and world premiere of this collection, which spans more than 35 years of work.  A reception will follow to celebrate.

Thursday, February 19 -- Johnson County Public Library hosts John Sparks reading from and discussing his novelette Overtime: On Edge at 6:30pm.

Monday, February 23 – Writers in the Library series will feature two writers with ties to East Tennessee, Poet/young adult writer Connie Green and poet Kristi Maxwell, who will each read from their works at the. Readings begin at 7 p.m., in the auditorium of the John C. Hodges Library on the University of Tennessee campus. Connie Jordan Green writes stories, poetry, and novels for young people. Her novels, The War at Home and Emmy (Tellico Books/Iris Press), are both award-winners. She was the recipient of a Lifetime Achievement Award from the East Tennessee Hall of Fame for Writers. An East Tennessee native, Kristi Maxwell currently lives and writes in Cincinnati, where she is pursuing a PhD in English. She is the author of two books of poems, Realm Sixty-four (Ahsahta Press, 2008) and Hush Sessions (Saturnalia Books, forthcoming in 2009) and has won, among other awards, the Isabel & Mary Neff Fellowship.
