Friday, October 17- Saturday, October 18 -- Jenny Wiley State Resort Park -- Workshop "Body, Mind, Heart and Environment: Making the Healing Connection" (CEUs available for physicians, social workers, PT/OT nurses)  Register for this conference at www.uksocialworkonline.com  The cost is $75 for the two-day conference.  Friday's events include a poetry reading by Leatha Kendrick at 6:00pm. On Saturday at 3:00pm . Leatha will lead a workshop on writing aspects of healing.

Friday, October 17--Saturday, October 18 – Kentucky State Poetry Society’s Fall Poetry “Round Up!” will be held at Pine Mountain State Resort Park. Among the weekend’s activities are a poetry slam, readings, and workshops. For more information, please go here.

Thursday, Oct 23- Friday, October 24 -- Emory & Henry College Literary Festival. This year the festival honors Kentucky poet Frank X Walker, the author of four collections of poetry. In 2005 Walker received a Lannan Literary Fellowship in Poetry. He is a founding member of the Affrilachian Poets and currently serves as Writer-in-Residence at Northern Kentucky University. Recently he began editing and publishing PLUCK!: The Journal of Affrilachian Art & Culture.  More information: http://www.ehc.edu/litfest/index.html

Saturday, October 25 - Area Authors Book Fair hosted by the Montgomery County Council for the Arts from 10:00-1:00 at Montgomery County High School Cafeteria in Mt. Sterling, KY.  Event is free and will feature 20+ authors signing and selling their books including Nancy Kelly Allen, Normandi Ellis, Billy Reed, Deborah Rich, and Bob Sloan.  Event will also include a used book sale, bake sale, door prizes, and music from Fiero Strings.
