Thursday, September 4 – Acclaimed Knoxville author and columnist David Hunter will speak at the
Thursday, Sept. 4th meeting of the Knoxville Writers’ Guild about his new novel, Tempest at the Sunsphere. The event will be open to the public at the handicapped-accessible Laurel Theatre , 1538 Laurel Ave. in Fort Sanders. Admission is free and refreshments are provided, although a $1 donation is suggested.
Thursday, September 4 – Affrilachian Poets Reunion: New Member Induction Reading featuring Norman Jordan of West Virginia; Hasan Davis of Berea; Makalani Bandeli of Louisville; Keith Wilson of Newport, Kentucky; and Joy Gonsalves of Lexington. The event will begin at 7 PM at the Carnegie Center in Lexington, Kentucky.
Friday, September 5, Affrilachian Poets Reunion Reading featuring Ricardo Nazario-Colon, Mitchell Douglas, Crystal Nazario, Jude Mcpherson, Marta Miranda, Frank X Walker, Kelly Ellis, Crystal Wilkinson, and Bianca Spriggs. The event will begin at 7 PM at Al’s Bar at 6th and Limestone in Lexington, Kentucky. (Open mic from 7:00-7:30 PM).
Saturday, September 6 – Afrrilachian Poetry and Fiction Workshops led by Kelly Ellis (poetry 12:00-2:30 PM) and Crystal Wilkinson (fiction 2:30-5:00 PM) in Lexington, Kentucky, in the Central Library, 4th Floor Conference Room.
Tuesday, September 9 – Don Williams, columnist, blogger, short story writer, magazine writer and founding editor of New Millennium Writings, will teach Adventures In Writing, a six-week course open to all writers and aspiring writers and poets of any level of expertise or experience. The course begins 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, at the Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church at 2931, Kingston Pike, near Cumberland Avenue, UT and Fort Sanders. The course lasts six weeks and meets for just over 2 hours each week. Cost is $140. If you like, take the first night and then decide.
